Thoroughly enjoyed Bonnie and Clyde

This was a wonderful play. I stopped in to see if there were any last minute tickets and was so excited to get a seat. The actors were wonderful and the musical score was excellent. Very well done.

ここで『コーラスライン』を数回見ました

ここって確か４２丁目。１９７０年代ー８０年代の４２丁目って柄が悪いの悪くないの。治安最悪のエリアでした。酒飲み、ホームレス、麻薬中毒者や売人などが徘徊、ポルノショップが並んだ通りでとても家族連れでミュージカルなんて考えられない場所でした。 この通りの西側の劇場で、憧れのコーラスラインを２，３回（再演も含めて）見ました。大抵は半額のチケットを並んで買って入ったんです。 普通ミュージカルって途中で１度は休憩があるし、舞台装置にも凝ったものが多い。でもここは至ってシンプル。演技と歌とダンスで魅せる構成だったみたい。 映画化もされてるし、何度も日本の劇団四季の舞台を見てるので英語のせりふも難しいけど何とかわかりました。決して特別大きなシアターじゃないけど、簡素でこのミュージカルには相応しい感じの劇場でした。劇場前の飾りつけも期待を抱かせるつくり。ロビーも広くないので開幕直前やカーテンコール直後はお客さんが道路にまで溢れて、それはそれで見ていて楽しいものでした。 このコーラスラインですが、オリジナルキャストでは見てないと思います。何度かキャストが変わっているようで、１回目は素晴らしかったけど、２回目か３回目は、ブロードウエーのミュージカルもたいしたことは無いな、と思わせるようなキャストもありました。よっぽど劇団四季のほうが上と思ったことが。日本のミュージカルもレベルが上がったってことでしょうか。 兎も角、大好きなコーラスラインをここで見られたことは幸せでした。昨年か再演されたそうですが、次回はいつかな？是非見てみたいです、このシューバート劇場で。
