The Musee Gustave Moreau was one of the highlights for us on our most recent trip to Paris. Did not know much about the Artist until seeing his work in the Orsay, His style is not to everyones taste....

取り残された空間。

ギャラリー・ラファイエットの東の道を北上し、大きなサント・トリニテ教会前の広場から東に伸びる道を１００メートル行くと、「ギュスターヴモロ－の美術館はこっち」という小さな茶色い道路標識があります。路上駐車されたクルマがころがり落ちてこないかという坂道を汗をかきながら登っていくが、美術館らしい建物は見えて来ません。住宅や小店舗が続き、高さ１メートル、長さ３メートルほどのポスターが目に入らなければ、通り過ぎてしまうところでした。ごく普通の白っぽい家。近づくとドアには、日本語で！「御用の方はドアを押してください」 美術館にたどり着くだけでも、達成感があります。館内では、外界と隔離された不思議な世界にどっぷり浸かることができます。メトロポリタン美術館蔵「オイディプスとスフィンクス」のデッサンなど１０００点以上？が棚に入っていて、自由に見ることができます。２時間滞在し、入場者も２０人ほどでしたが、帰りには、複製画や本を買う人が５人も並んでいました。私も日本語バージョンの画集と読本を購入しました。

神話の世界に迷い込んだような・・・

12号線Trinite d'Estienne d'Ovres、または同じく12号線St.Georgesが最寄駅になりますが、私はトリニテ・デスティエンヌ・ドルヴから歩いて行きました。 「館(やかた)」の壁一面に絵が飾られていて、そのひとつひとつが神秘的でとても不思議な気持ちになりました。 絵画はもちろん、館自体も見る価値のある、こじんまりとした美術館です。

モローに少しでも興味のある方は、ぜひ

閑静な住宅街にあり、地図を見ながら行くと、あまり迷わないと思いますが、気を付けていないと、通り過ぎてしまうかも。 住んでいた自宅兼アトリエが美術館になっていて、とても素敵なマダム2人が笑顔で「ようこそ」という感じで出迎えてくれ、お邪魔しますという感じで入りました。 階段上がって、2階には居間、寝室等、当時の家具がそのままに。 生活を感じながら、3階へ。 高い天井の壁に、2段3段掛けで、ぎっしりモローの作品が展示されていて圧倒されました。デッサン・水彩・未完の作品等もあり、とても興味深かったです。 4階への螺旋階段も美しく。静かな館内で、ギュスターヴ・モローの世界に浸れます。 作品も勿論ですが、あの凝縮された、なんとも言い表せない雰囲気。 ぜひにと思います。
